Welcome to the Sogetsu San Francisco Bay Area Branch.
Founded in 1973, the Branch has 50 years of presenting and sharing the contemporary floral art of
Sogetsu Ikebana with the San Francisco Bay Area community.

Creating large scale floor arrangements take a high level of skill. The artist considers, for example, placement and viewer perspective. If the arrangement is placed against a wall or will it be viewable from 360 degrees the artist must design with that in mind.

have all the elements of nature

ArtScapes is held biannually in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.

Recent Events and Videos

A "Taisaku" is a large scale, focal arrangement. It can be created
for an exhibition, event or installation in public or private spaces. Master Instructor Misei Ishikawa designed this stunning Bamboo Taisaku arrangement for our 50th Anniversary celebration.

This video chronicles all the stages of our journey, beginning
with the selection and cutting of the bamboo, then the meticulous
planning and sketching of the design by Ishikawa Sensei,
leading up to the final assembly of our structure at the site.

     Creating Sogetsu Arrangements Using Pool Noodles
     which is a lesson from Book 5

     The arrangements were dynamic and whimsical.
